  22. Back when that monitor came out I worked for IBM.  I don't remember
  23. all of the specs for it but I'll try to answer some of your questions.

  25. It was first introduced as part of the "5080 Graphics System", a
  26. graphics workstation designed to be driven by large IBM mainframes.  
  27. After that it was used with the IBM RT PC, an early RISC based unix
  28. system.  And then on the IBM RISC System, the system that replaced
  29. the RT PC.  A few years ago the 5081 was replaced by the 6091.

  42. One set is video in and the other set of connectors is video out
  43. (passthrough).  I think there is also a switch on the back to 
  44. enable or disable termination on the video inputs.

  46. The sync is combined with the green video.

  52. Somewhere in between if I remember correctly.  Somewhere in the
  53. 35-50khz range I believe.  I do know that it is not a multiscan
  54. monitor, it is only designed to work at one fixed horizontal
  55. and vertical frequency.  I also seem to remember that the 
  56. early ones had a 50hz vertical rate and the later ones had 
  57. a 60hz rate.

  59. I do remember that the horizontal rate is higher than standard
  60. VGA.  I think standard VGA is around 32khz.  We had two video
  61. projection systems,  one would handle all of the displays
  62. we had including the 5081 and the other would handle everything
  63. but the 5081 including VGA.  At the time there was no SVGA.

  74. think it's either comp.sys.ibm.rtpc or comp.sys.ibm.pcrt.  You
  75. can probably find a more informed answer there.
